Enshrouded blends survival, building, and action RPG combat into a massive open world that begs to be explored with friends. You have cleared Shroud zones, built a towering base, rescued Craftspeople, and upgraded your Flame Altar. Then the host gets busy, and your shared adventure comes to a standstill.

Enshrouded’s save system ties the world to the host player. SaveSync changes that by letting any player in your group host the world at any time.

How Enshrouded Saves Work in Co-Op

Enshrouded supports up to 16 players in co-op, but the world save is stored on the host’s machine (or on a dedicated server if you set one up). Players who join a session contribute to the same world but cannot load it independently. Your character progression and equipment carry between worlds, but the actual world with its buildings, unlocked Craftspeople, and Flame Altar upgrades belongs to the host.

This means all the base-building and exploration progress your group has made is inaccessible unless the host starts a session. Given how much time Enshrouded asks you to invest in your base and world progression, this limitation stings.

How SaveSync Unlocks Your Shared World

SaveSync distributes your Enshrouded world save to every player in your sync group. After a session, the save uploads and becomes available to all members. Anyone can then download the latest save and host the world themselves.

Your Flame Altar upgrades persist. Your base stands tall. Your unlocked Craftspeople are right where you left them. The world is no longer tied to a single player.

How to Set Up SaveSync for Enshrouded

  1. Install SaveSync from Steam.
  2. Create a sync group and invite your co-op team through Steam.
  3. Select Enshrouded and configure the save directory.
  4. Sync after each session so the latest world state is available to everyone.
  5. Any player can host by pulling the save and launching Enshrouded.

Why Use SaveSync Instead of Other Methods?

vs. Dedicated servers: Enshrouded supports dedicated servers, but running one requires either a spare machine or monthly hosting costs. For a small friend group that plays a few evenings a week, a dedicated server is overkill. SaveSync gives you the same flexibility of always-available worlds without the infrastructure.

vs. Manually transferring save files: Enshrouded save files can be found in your local app data, but manually transferring them between players is risky. Grabbing the wrong files, mixing up save slots, or transferring mid-corruption can destroy hours of progress. SaveSync handles the file management cleanly.

vs. Coordinating schedules: Your group has four players across three time zones. Getting everyone online at the same time is hard enough. Getting the host specifically online whenever anyone wants to play is nearly impossible. SaveSync decouples the world from the host so play sessions happen on everyone’s individual schedule.

Lift the Shroud on Your Own Terms

Enshrouded’s world is vast and full of challenges that reward consistent exploration. SaveSync makes sure your group’s progress is never gated by one player’s availability, so you can push deeper into the Shroud whenever you are ready.
